Distribution research post
The first picture is a traditional distribution model for a magazine, that has many components. One aspect is the hard copy of which I will distribute to stores like: Target, Wal-Mart, Richards, Whole Foods, CVS, Walgreens, Publix, Lucky's market, Trader Joes, etc. These will be the stores that I pay for a slot at the checkout counter. Another aspect is the Email distribution. These emails will go out to all those who have subscribed and give them discounts on other products we are advertising. They mention the WhatsApp Groups which will give my product an international platform. My Social Media platform has been created with the Facebook and Instagram pages I created. I will also display my product on my website and feature key articles, as well as, the full magazine, if the visitor wants to subscribe like Women's Health, Health, and Psychology Today all do. The last component is E-commerce where my magazine will be available on Amazon, Kindle, etc. This is an important model to gauge my distribution plan on because these the are to components I have seen in the distribution of all the magazines I have researched. This stresses the elements that are key to a magazine company's success.
The second model is the different types of distribution plans a company can follow. The less middle-men a company has to go through, the less their prices have to be regulated, which is why many companies are switching to going from the producer straight to the consumer. Many companies advise that, if you are starting out as a new company producing a new product, going with a wholesaler and retailer would be a wise move because they may not be around much longer due to many companies switching to the model of producer to consumer. Because I am starting out new, I am going to chose the wholesaler and retailer option for my business and product distribution. This also could not hurt because if at any time I want to switch to the two-teer process rather than the four-teer process I have the freedom to to that as well.
