#1 revision of cover page
Original cover
Revised cover
The first image here is of my publisher version of my cover page. I changed my picture due to the feedback I received. I needed more of an appealing photo of a person who is happy and smiling, as opposed to an over the shoulder shot of my first subject. This picture portrays the message of a person who is on a journey with the sidewalk in the background. She stops to take a break in this picture and has a smile of contentment in where she is and where she is headed. This is what I want to inspire my readers to feel. When I edited my original copy of my cover, I used In-design. I was able to change my photo in this program. I had to learn how to use photoshop to edit the photo because there was a sweat stain I needed to take out. I also was able to use photoshop to increase the warmth of the picture. This warmth evokes a feeling of familiarity and happiness. According to the feedback I received, I removed the text outline in In-Design to get back to a more conventional look for a magazine. This truly increased the professional appeal of my product. I also changed the font and color of my brand name, because my original was not conventional. I used a more professional looking font and color inspired by both Women's Health Magazine and Health Magazine.
Upon further research, I realized that is was quite conventional to add a brief description of the articles being featured and the pages they are located. This is what I incorporated in the revision of my cover. I decided to not use transparency on the revision of my cover due to the fact that it is unconventional for many of the magazines I researched. Overall, I was able to bring my cover to a more professional level, which was greatly inspired and helped by all the research I did on what is conventional in the world of health and wellness magazines. This will therefore help in the appeal of my product when marketing and distributing.
