CCR Question #2 Draft

The audience I am reaching are people who are both focused on their health in a practical and scientific manner. This also means I am reaching the more educated demographic of the United States, Europe, South Africa and Australia. I came to add these locations to my audience due the research I did on other magazines such as: Women's Health Magazine. My magazine specifically reaches women, but is also open to men. The men and women I reach have an income between of $50,000 to $150,000. This range of incomes are meant to accommodate both those who are looking for practical tips they can utilize on their own and those who have the funds to purchase help through a coach, eating program, etc. My product strives to reach the young both in age and at heart, because of the focus we put on our health and wellness both mentally and physically. Women's Health Magazine features young, thin, gorgeous women, while I strive to feature the average, everyday woman and bring out their beauty. These woman are my audience. My articles are leaned more toward the science side, while also having some articles about simple fitness and eating concepts, I intend to reach both the fitness guru, the science buff, and anyone in between.
My marketing plan was inspired by Women's Health, Health and Psychology Today magazines. I followed their basic digital and physical marketing plans. I created a Facebook and Instagram account specifically for my brand, which features specific articles and links to my website. Though I was not able to create my own website, this aspect of marketing is very important in gathering customers.  I will also promote through email and mail. We will get this information through those who subscribe. I found Psychology Today's in-store marketing locations to be very effective for the audience I am trying to reach. They market their product in places such as: Barnes and Noble; Target; Publix; CVS; Whole Foods; and Walgreens. Another marketing strategy that magazine companies use is the advertisement of their magazine on the yellow page in another magazine of the same genre. This is meant to promote my brand in other famous magazines, in order to, build my business, since I am just starting out. For further marketing, I looked at the marketing plan of Boston Weekly, Inc. Their physical marketing plan consists of: sending a sample of my product to advertising agencies and major organizations; purchasing advertising time slots on TV channels; customizing subscription packages for different clients based on income; and using the old word of mouth advertisement. Their online marketing plan consists of: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Google+; promoting the website in the magazine; contacting corporations for online subscriptions; and utilizing yellow page ads for the website. I plan on using their marketing plan as a foundation, because this is a pretty standard marketing plan for magazines. I will be going with Hearst media, which is who Women's Health Magazine is marketed and published through. Their investment and success with other well-known health and wellness magazines proves they have the formula for success.
My distribution plan had input from Women's Health Magazine, Health Magazine, and Psychology Today. One aspect of distribution they all use is through Amazon. This caters to both their online and print copy audience. They also distribute through their website where one has the option to subscribe to the magazine. Through subscriptions, these magazines are able to distribute their product digitally and physically by acquiring both their subscriber's emails and addresses. I plan to both utilize my website and Amazon for my distribution, as well. They have more websites they use for distribution of their product, but I found these two methods most effective. I also plan to utilize distribution of my product through an App. This is a great tool for those digital subscribers who do not want a print copy and want to access their subscription conveniently and on the go. This is very effective for the magazines I researched and is a method I plan to incorporate. My distribution plan consists of distributing to stores such as: Target, Wal-Mart, Richards, Whole Foods, CVS, Walgreens, Publix, Lucky's market, Trader Joes, etc. I will be paying for a slot at the checkout of these locations. I will also use subscriptions to distribute both digitally and physically. For my international audience I will use WhatsApp groups for my subscribers abroad. I will distribute through Amazon and Kindle for both digital and physical distribution. For my distribution plan, I will be going through both a wholesaler, Hearst Media, and retailer, because I am starting out. This will allow my company to get familiar with the distribution of our product before we switch to directly selling to the customer.
