Third quarter submission
I have learned much on my journey through creating a health and wellness magazine. I learned a lot about the industry that I found quite interesting. Through creating my own magazine product I learned how much work it requires to produce a desirable product for the public. To begin, my cover page came leaps and bounds from where it started. I changed my picture, the font of my brand name, the layout of the featured articles, and effects of the cover photo. These were all changed from the feedback I received, as well as, inspiration from the research I had done on conventional magazine covers. I wanted my cover to have more of a shelf appeal for checkout lines and marketing advertisements. My table of contents underwent a myriad of transformations. I changed the photo and its orientation, the size of the page numbers and article titles, the layout of the articles and their briefs, the font of the title, and added the months of the magazine issue. These changes allowed my table of contents to be readable and easy to navigate. When considering the changes made to my cover page and table of contents, it can be seen that my product could potentially make it in the professional world of health and wellness magazines. Not only did I conform to the conventions of health and wellness magazines, but I used some of my own creativity to add a unique look to my product. The fonts I used did not exactly match the ones seen in the magazines I had researched, which allowed me to authenticate my product.
My article pages also endured many changes. I changed the title photo and the size of the title photo. I completely threw out most of my photos and used new ones from my second photo shoot. I used a drop-shadow effect on all the photos except the first title photo, and added dividing lines at the bottom of the article pages with page numbers and my website below them. These changes also came from both feedback and inspiration from my research.
In conclusion, I became well acquainted with the In-design program through the revision of my cover, contents, and article pages. This project has been quite educational and informative through my increased knowledge of the magazine industry and my engagement with new office programs such as: In-Design, Publisher, and Photoshop.
